St. Dominic is once again becoming a winter wonderland with its annual hallway decorating competition. This competition is a beloved tradition that brings festive cheer and spirited rivalry to the school.
Each year, the hallways are adorned with creative decorations based on a different Christmas theme, and this year’s overall theme is the north pole. The competition is organized as a house system event, where the various houses compete to create the most imaginative and artistic hallway decorations.
Each house brings its unique interpretation through their individual takes on the north pole. For instance, house Virtus has a sub-theme of the polar express, promising a magical journey through the hallways.
In past years, the entire school was a canvas for the competition, with each hallway uniquely decorated by the different houses. However, this year, the focus is on the T hallway where the creativity of all houses will be showcased in a concentrated area. Previously, each house selected a completely different theme, leading to a diverse array of festive scenes throughout the school. This year, the shared North Pole theme brings a cohesive yet varied display. This new approach adds a layer of unity, making the event even more special.
Students from all grades and teachers alike have put in countless hours after school and even over their break to ensure their house’s victory. The dedication is evident as you walk through the halls, seeing the intricate details and the effort poured into every decoration. This collective effort not only aims for the win but also strengthens the bonds within the school community, making the experience memorable and rewarding for all involved.
The deadline for the decorations is this Friday, and the anticipation is building as the school eagerly awaits the judging. The judges will evaluate each hallway to determine which house earns the most points for their creativity and artistry.
This event not only showcases the students’ talents but also fosters a sense of community and holiday spirit, making it a highlight of the Christmas season at St. Dominic High School.
