With Thanksgiving approaching quickly, it is time to start prepping the kitchens for the big feast day. Thanksgiving is a time to gather with families and enjoy some amazing foods.
One of the top most popular foods on this day is turkey. Turkey is always the first thing stores sell out of during the season. A big question that is asked on Thanksgiving, is whether ham or turkey is a better choice.
“I prefer turkey over ham because I just think it has more flavor, it is always easier to eat. I hate when I get a bad piece of chewy ham,” junior Gwenny Roberts said.
Over the years, pie has become one of the most bought items on Thanksgiving week. In 2023, Costco sold over six million pumpkin pies. Another famous option is apple pies. Who doesn’t love a good pie after eating all that turkey.
“I love to eat apple pies with my family after we all eat our meals. I always look forward to having a slice or two,” junior Clare Griesenauer said.
A very controversial food item is cranberries. People either love them or hate them. Many like to enjoy cranberry sauce on different meats, and biscuits.
“I personally love cranberry sauce on my grandma’s famous biscuits, this is one of my most looked forward to items,” junior Evelyn Mueller said.
Mashed potatoes is a world famous side to have Thanksgiving day. There are so many different ways to prepare them. Some put brown or white gravy on it or even giblet gravy.
“I love putting giblet gravy on all my foods, especially mashed potatoes. My people find it gross, but I personally have always loved giblet gravy,” said Mr. Markway.
Overall Thanksgiving is the time for family and friends to enjoy all their favorite foods. Have a great break crusaders!
