Gratia and Virtus have been working together this year to aid L’Arche in their mission to house people with physical and/or mental disabilities. This mission will be furthered in the first week of December, when students will travel out to L’Arche houses and decorate them with a plethora of Christmas decorations.
Students have been given the opportunity to donate Christmas decorations, along with donating their time on Monday, December second to L’Arche. A few students have stated that they will attend the Christmas decorating.
“I’m excited to bring Christmas to L’Arche this year for my second year in philanthropy leadership!”, junior Chloe Kirkpatrick said.
The Gratia and Virtus philanthropy captains, along with Mr. Tock, Mrs. Jeurgensmeyer, Mrs. Riechers have been working the past two weeks to organize this event with St. Dominic students and the L’Arche community.
“This year has been great. I enjoy working with Mr. Tock, Mrs. Jeurgensmeyer, Sam (the head of communications for L’Arche), and Eward (The face of L’Arche) to better the community and make a difference.”, Gratia Philanthropy Captain Carson Pohl said.
Gratia and Virtus philanthropy have helped in many events and projects this year including aiding in the annual Walk N’ Roll, making toilet paper pumpkins, and creating cards to send to the houses.
“My favorite thing we have done for L’Arche this year is helping at the Walk N’ Roll. I loved it because it was a very positive environment to be in and everyone was very friendly and welcoming.”, Virtus Philanthropy Caption Madison Huff said.
Make sure to join Gratia and Virtus’ efforts to aid L’Arche December 2. The Philanthropy Captains plan on creating more opportunities to help out L’Arche this year and in future years.
