One of the most expensive things a human can have is a teenager, whether that is due to their sports, clothes, hobbies, and many other things. As you take a look around St. Dominic the halls are flooded with these expensive teens.
Teenagers are often a part of many different sports. Although they are lots of fun, they are also very expensive. In the top spots are ice hockey, baseball, and golf. Not only is all the equipment very pricey, but the annual cost to play on a club team is around 5,000 dollars.
“I love playing golf and practicing it, but it’s so expensive not only for all my clubs, but also to pay for tee times and trips to the range,” junior Houston Yonaka said.
Another way teens spend money is by going on “food runs”, and “sweet treats”. The average teen loves to make their way over to Menchies or Chick Fil A for either some grub or a dessert. The average cost of one of these meals is anywhere between 15 to 20 dollars. This may seem small at first, but the price can quickly rack up.
“One of my favorite things to do is go get Menchies with my friends either after school or just randomly for fun,” junior Gwenny Roberts said.
Moving onto beauty, many teens seem to gravitate towards the beauty industry, whether that is Sephora or Ulta. Although the products may be beautiful, they are very expensive averaging around 25 to 40 dollars a product.
“ I love going into Sephora and looking around, but I always seem to spend at least 100 dollars on only 3 items max,” junior Pearl Mishra said.
As teens are growing up, they soon hit the fun age of 16, where they can start driving. This is a very expensive time for parents, because unless they already have a car ready at home, they now need to buy a car for their new driver. Although there are cheaper routes that they may take, regardless they will be spending a large amount of money.
“I’ve always been grateful towards my parents, for providing me with a car that I can drive around,” Yonaka said.
Overall parents spend a lot of time and money on their children, and I is important to be thankful for all that they do!
