Just recently, St. Dominic wrapped up their annual Crusader Raffle, which was a major success. The St. Dominic community outdid themselves once again, by breaking our own record. The raffle started October 10th and ran through October 27th. During the last three weeks, the raffle took place, there were many prizes, and house points up for grabs along the way.
During the first week of Crusader fun, there was lots on the line. Starting off strong with house points, House Virtus won 10 points to give them a chance to come closer to winning the house cup. The whole school also got a reward. St. Dominic reached its first week goal of raising $60,000, which scored them a dress down day on Thursday, October 17th. Senior Brian Chavez won the early bird prize, which was $500.
“The raffle serves two purposes for St. Dominic. First, it builds community. We have a lot of fun, and we engage other members of our community who aren’t students. Secondarily it raises a significant amount of money to benefit our entire school community. It helps us provide extra opportunities for our students and teachers,” President Mr. Welby said.
The second week of the Crusader raffle was a huge hit. House Gaudium won scoring them 10 points to add onto their score. The entire school also received donuts on Friday October 25th, as a reward of reaching their goal of $115,000. At the end of week two, freshman Nate Corrigan was the winner of the $50 QT gift card.
After just finishing week three, the school had the chance to win some days off for extra relaxation. Crusaders easily reached their goal of $140,000, which earned Wednesday, November 27th, the day before Thanksgiving off and Monday, December 2nd. The community outdid themselves once again, by reaching this goal earning a whopping six days off for Thanksgiving break.
Over the past three weeks, the St. Dominic community has done outstanding work to reach all of their goals. Throughout the whole raffle, House Dignitas was the overall winner for the entire raffle, winning them a treat in family time. For participating, the winner was House Virtus with 76 percent.
Overall, the Crusaders had a very successful Crusader raffle. During the last three weeks many students, faculty members, parents and houses, got the chance to win some prizes. Between money, house points and gift cards, everyone worked together to help raise money to support the St. Dominic community.
