The annual 40 hours of adoration have begun this week to support pro-life and honor pro-life month. The 40 hour adoration consists of students sacrificing class time, along with free time, to pray for those going through a decision about their pregnancy and to send a pro-life message.
Throughout the week of October 14, many students have signed up to go to pro-life adoration. Along with the magnitude of students that signed up, several other students have joined the Pro-life Club and attended adoration throughout the week.
“I joined pro-life because abortion is a big argument and issue in society today and I think it’s important to understand fully what’s happening in the world with abortion and abortion rights and it’s also important to stand up for unborn children and find ways to help mothers find alternatives,” junior Katarina Magill said.
The argument between pro-life and pro-choice has been around for a long time. St. Dominic has helped to aid in the issue by attending the pro-life march in Washington DC, creating a pro-life club, and hosting a 40 hour adoration.
“Pro-life adoration is when people from the school come together at different hours through prayer in order to pray for baby’s that weren’t able to experience life and pray for mothers who have difficulties choosing the right thing to do”, Katarina said.
The 40 hours of adoration has been a tradition at St. Dominic for many years, with many students participating in it even if they are not a part of the Pro-life Club. Many people sign up for adoration as a chance to express their faith and give time to God in prayer.
“I signed up for adoration because I consider myself devoted to my religion and adoration is a great way to showcase that. The adoration also is a great way to support a good cause,” junior Aliva Humpheres said.
The 40 hours are an amazing way to support the pro-life cause and give time to God through prayer and silence. Another 40 hour adoration will occur next year around mid-October in honor of pro-life month.
