This weekend was filled with fun events as St. Dominic’s spirit week came to an end. Whether it be at the pep rally, football game, or Homecoming dance students were sure to have an exciting weekend.
Last Friday led into the weekend by ending with Dominic’s homecoming pep rally. This year, the pep rally was filled with new ideas and games including some of our favorite teachers racing in inflatable costumes, and students competing in a relay race.
“I’ve been in this role for two years and I’ve yet to repeat a pep rally game or activity,” Assistant Principal for Student Life Mr. Tock said.
At the homecoming pep rally, each grade competes against one another in friendly competition to take home the spirit stick. Although the pep rally was extremely hot and even ended early, the Senior class took home the honored stick, following one of St. Dominic’s best traditions.
“Although it was super hot, finally being able to win the spirit stick was such a good feeling,” senior Marissa Clemens said.
Following the pep rally on Friday night, the Crusaders took the field to face off against Park Hills Central. The Crusaders advanced to 3-1, after beating the Rebels 38-7. Sophomore Dominik Palo played a terrific game with three touchdowns, helping lead the Crusaders to victory.
“The intention is to win, play our best and execute. Lately, we have been working on consistency,” Coach Markway said.
Last Saturday night, St. Dominic students celebrated another great Homecoming dance. This year’s theme, Midnight Memories, allowed students to dance under neon lights and party all through the night. To say the dance was good, is an understatement, as everyone danced the night away.
“The dance was really on point this year with the decorations and music. It was such a good time,” senior Kendall Kimes said.
To end the festive weekend, the king and queen of homecoming court were announced. As they paraded into the Fallon Family center, it was announced that seniors Issac Branson and Alex Mueller took home the crowns!
This year St. Dominic’s homecoming weekend did not disappoint. The pep rally and football game were a huge success and the dance topped it off. When it comes to fun and celebration, St. Dominic knows how to have a good time.
