There have been several new updates to the college football scene this year. These changes
include rankings, rules, regulations, and the expansion of the season.
One of the biggest rule changes being made this year is the expansion from four teams being able
to make it to the playoffs to 12 teams. These 12 teams will be made up of the five highest ranked
conference champions, who will receive automatic bids, along with the seven highest ranking
teams remaining. This change will have a huge impact on college football and strategies this
season.
Another rule that will make a huge impact on the players and fans alike is the extension of the
season. This extension is caused by the National Championship game getting moved back to
January 20, making this season the longest season in all of college football history.
However, rules are not the only thing being changed this year. Mizzou is ranked in 11th place
this year after being ranked 8th last year. Despite this, Mizzou started the season off strong with a
0-51 win against the Murray State Racers on August 29th. Coming off of this huge win, the
Mizzou Tigers hope to win the game on September 9th against the Buffalo Bulls to make that
game their 13th consecutive win in the Mid-American Conference.
Speaking about winning, many colleges have already had many blowout games so far this season
with the opposing team scoring nothing. Seven games have ended in this manner, with Furman
vs. Ole Miss being the most recent out of the seven colleges. Ole Miss ended up winning with a
huge 76 points ahead of the opposing university team, Furman.
Make sure to catch the upcoming games this season. The next games include, Georgia Tech vs.
Syracuse, Texas vs. Michigan, Arkansas vs. Oklahoma State, and Bowling Green vs. Penn State,
all playing Saturday, September 7th at 11am. If you are not able to make the 11am games there
are several other teams playing at 2:30. These 2:30 teams include Northern Illinois vs. Notre
Dame, Baylor vs. Utah, Jax State vs. Louisville, and Iowa State vs. Iowa.
Several predictions have been made for the upcoming games. Georgia Tech is favored to win by
3 points against Syracuse. Texas is favored to win by 7 points against Michigan. Oklahoma State
is expected to win by seven to ten points in the Arkansas vs. Oklahoma State game. Penn State is
favored to win in a blowout game fashion against Bowling Green by scoring thirty more points
than them.
