With the new school year comes new enhancements to the campus, and one of those is the new stadium and parking combo. There are 194 new parking spaces for students, along with turf and lights being installed on softball and baseball fields. The entire community is excited about these new additions!
Campus was buzzing over the summer with crews starting on the new renovations. The old softball field was torn out to support the growing community, they doubled the parking at the stadium. While more parking spots are nice, the best parts of the lot are the new exit and entrances. They converted the old exit-entrance into a permanent entrance, and added a new exit. With those additions, the flow of traffic has become more efficient.
“It is a lot easier to get out of the lot. The flow is way better and the spots have nice clear bright lines. With the two entrances and exits the stadium is better for guests and students,” sophomore Vincent Palmisano said.
Not only are the entrance/exits nice, the new restroom at the football field is convenient. The two smaller old restrooms were converted into one all men’s restroom. Women now have a huge new restroom addition to make the stadium more practical.
The big renovation is the new lights and turf going in on the softball-baseball field. While the turf is not being put in until after softball season, the lady Crusader athletes play their first game under the new lights on September 4th. The field will be all turf, with new dugouts. With the new scoreboard added last year, the stadium will be complete.
“I am so excited for the new lights. We will be able to have later games which will make our entire season a lot easier. I am super pumped to have games under the lights,” senior Kelsey Kunz said.
“The season is going to be so nice with the new turf. So many games last year got delayed or canceled because of rain and field conditions. With the turf the field will always be ready for us to play no matter the weather condition,” senior Evan Maysent said.
The Crusader athletes are excited for the new renovations for the upcoming sports year. This will make hosting events easier and more efficient for all the guests. Make sure to come out to see the new and improved St. Dominic!
