Senior Luca Ramirez recently celebrated his tennis senior night. With him being the only senior, it was a very special night. In the fall Luca is headed to Mizzou to study business. Reflecting on his time on the court, he wants to always remember his time in a Crusader uniform.
With Luca being the only senior, all eyes are on him. He decided to come back after not playing his junior year. Coach Duncan was the deciding factor, Luca wanted to go out with a bang for his final season.
“Luca decided to come back and play tennis after taking a year off. His senior leadership has been so important to the success of our team,” Coach Noah Duncan said.
The weight of being the only senior never got to Luca. He went into the season knowing he had nothing to lose. The team rallied around him and dominated 9-0 against Lutheran St. Charles Cougars on senior night. Luca loved the spotlight being on the entire night.
“My favorite memory would probably be my senior night because everyone was there to celebrate only me and it felt really nice,” Luca said.
Luca’s biggest inspiration is his father, he embodies many qualities that Luca aspires to gain. His fathers sacrifice, his lessons, actions, and words are some of the traits Luca loves about his father. He has instilled determination, integrity, and empathy into Luca. Without his father he would not be the same he is today. He knows that he can accomplish anything with the love and support of his father by his side.
“His wavering support, guidance, and love has been constant in my life, shaping me into the person I am today. His strength in the face of adversity, his wisdom in decision-making,” Luca said.
After college Luca is planning on getting his real estate license and heading to Mizzou in the fall. His hope is to sell houses for Mizzou students, and then after college join a firm. Once he gets the hang of it, Luca is hoping to start his own firm.
Luca will always remember this tennis season. The love and support from his team and parents are what made this season so special. Through his hard work and dedication Luca has had a great senior year. We wish him the best of luck in his plans for the future!
