Fear the Walking Dead

The Harsh Reality, Fight or Bight.

The end of the world is inevitable, but how will it happen? A zombie apocalypse is the answer, at least for Robert Kirkman, writer and producer of The Walking Dead comic book series and television show. Kirkman has created a zombie apocalypse like no other that will keep you on your toes and up at night.

Fear the Walking Dead is a prequel to The Walking Dead. Kirkman wanted to have the series showcase what happened before The Walking Dead, in order to have a show focused on pre-apocalyptic times.

“They have a way of making it feel like The Walking Dead while making it its own show. They have two different plots that you can mentally put together, yet they are their own. They both tell full stories that form the amazing universe that is the zombie apocalypse,” said Brendan Beine, avid follower of The Walking Dead.

Fear the Walking Dead is another guilty pleasure for watchers of The Walking Dead, as they get to see another group of characters fight off walkers and search for salvation. For those new to the zombie apocalypse, it creates a story that does not require prior knowledge of The Walking Dead or anything about zombies at all.

The show follows widow Madison Clark and her kids Nick and Alicia, as well as Madison’s boyfriend Travis Manawa, his ex wife Liza Ortiz and their son Chris Manawa. The show opens in Los Angeles, California, where the outbreak occurs. Viewers watch carefully beneath the covers as an outbreak of illness occurs and people slowly begin to die off. “Walkers,” or zombies, begin to appear and no one is sure what they are or how to get rid of them. In this chaotic frenzy, people push for survival and hope for protection.

We see our characters adapt to a survival-of-the-fittest lifestyle and face the harsh reality that in order to survive, they will have to get their hands dirty. It’s “fight or flight,”or in this case, “fight or bite.”

Kirkman captivates audiences everywhere as they empathize for the loss of loved ones and cheer on their favorite characters. This realistic take on the zombie apocalypse will have you on the edge of your seat every Sunday. However, be prepared: viewer discretion is advised for those with weak stomachs and gag reflexes.
