The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers faced off in the 58th Super Bowl last Sunday. After a back and forth battle between the two, and an exciting overtime, the Kansas City Chiefs came out on top, with a final score of 25 to 22.
Now everyone knows the phrase ‘defense wins championships’. Well, apparently that phrase is true, because the Chiefs defense made some huge plays to keep Kansas City in this game. A notable player was Chris Jones. Chris had four tackles with two assists, which definitely helped lead his team to victory.
Now on the other side of the ball, you had a powerhouse of a team. The San Francisco 49ers had a quick start to the game with a field goal to put them ahead three to zero. Their wide receiver, Jauan Jennings, threw a beautiful touchdown pass to Christian McCaffrey, which put them up ten to three
At half time, this game was looking like it was the 49ers who would take the Lombardi trophy, but the Chiefs came out fired up and quickly took the lead making it 13 to ten. Before the second half started, millions around the globe took a break and watched Usher take the stage for the halftime show. He sang hit songs like Yeah, along with Confessions, and also brought out other stars like Alicia Keys, Ludacris, H.E.R, and Lil John to help him out.
After the halftime show, millions of fans were expecting to see both teams score. The third quarter was controlled by Kansas City. Harrison Butker kicked a Super Bowl record of a 57 yard field goal. Then, Patrick Mahomes threw a 16 yard touchdown pass, to wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, to give the Chiefs their first lead of the Super Bowl.
In the fourth quarter, the 49ers would take the lead again, thanks to a Brock Purdy touchdown pass. Then both teams made a field goal during the fourth quarter. With three seconds left, the Chiefs kicked a field goal to send it into overtime.
In overtime, the 49ers won the toss, but the Chiefs would hold them to a field goal. Then, Patrick Mahomes put on an impressive drive all the way down the field. With 15 seconds left, he threw a touchdown to Mecole Hardman to win the Super Bowl. This Super Bowl officially makes the Kansas City Chiefs a dynasty team.
The MVP of the match was none other than the star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns. Another man of the match was Travis Kelce. Travis was fired up for this Super Bowl. He had nine receptions and ran for 93 yards including a catch that kept the Chiefs in this game. Brock Purdy put up a great fight for the 49ers, throwing a touchdown along with 255 yards along with Christian McCaffrey who had 160 total yards and a touchdown.
Fans can look forward to next year, with new teams looking to take the Chiefs title, unless the Chiefs are able to hold on to it and make it three in a row.
