Just recently, St. Dominic wrapped up the Crusader Raffle, which was extremely successful. St. Dominic families and students outdid themselves, by breaking our own record. The Crusader raffle started October 16th, and ran through until November 5th. During the three weeks that the raffle took place, there were many prizes, and house points up for grabs along the way.
During the first week of Crusader fun, there was lots on the line for everyone involved in the St. Dominic community. Starting off strong with house points, House Dignatis won 12 points to give them a chance to come closer to the House Cup. The whole school also got a little something. We reached our first week goal of raising $50,000, which scored us a dress down on Thursday, October 26th. Some of the faculty was also given the chance to win a little prize. Mrs. Chavez, a Spanish teacher, won the early bird prize, which was $500.
The second week of the Crusader raffle was very hectic. House Dignitas, won once again for the second week in a row, winning another 10 points to add onto their score. The entire school also got donuts when we came back from Halloween break, as a reward of reaching our goal of $100,000. At the end of week one Freshman Henry Heiney, was the winner of the $50 QT gift card.
As we just finished week three, we had lots more to work to allow us a couple extra days off of relaxation. Crusaders easily reached our goal of $120,000, which earned us Wednesday, November 22nd, the day before Thanksgiving off. Our community outdid themselves once again, by reaching our bonus goal of $130,000, giving us a whopping six days off for Thanksgiving break. Over the past three weeks House Dignitas has proved everyone wrong and won another 10 points. We can’t forget the special student, junior Jack Chernawski, who won the $50 QT gift card.
Over the past three weeks, the St. Dominic community has done outstanding work to reach all of our goals. Throughout the whole raffle, House Dignitas was the overall winner, scoring a total of 40 points toward their final score of 110 points. House Caritas was our second place winners and House Virtus our third place winners ending in a 13 point difference by the end of the raffle.
St. Dominic sold $154,800 in tickets, breaking our record by over $20,000. As everyone knows, the parents and alumni of St. Dominic also had a chance to win. The grand prize winner of $10,000 was Katie Renken who bought tickets by freshman Abby Maroney. Our two other prize winners were Harry and Jo Ann Prinster, and Amy Gholson. Those tickets were sold by junior Brooke Prinster, and senior Evelyn Gholson.
The Crusaders had a very successful Crusader raffle. During the last three weeks many students, faculty members, parents and houses, got the chance to win some prizes. Between money, house points and gift cards, everyone worked together to help raise money for St. Dominic.
