The debate whether it's Christmas season of Thanksgiving time continues
As the spooky season comes to a close, the argument of whether it’s Christmas season, or Thanksgiving season, has grown larger than ever. While some students in the Dominic community argue, it’s hard to ignore Thanksgiving and the wonderful food, others have already decorated their houses with garland, and lights in preparation for Christmas.
Junior Ava Gandolfo, has already purchased Christmas decorations, and plans to decorate her bedroom this weekend, with the festive decor.
“Christmas is my favorite holiday, and decorating earlier basically extends the season. Plus, it just puts me in the holiday spirit,” Gandolfo said.
Similarly, many individuals wish to celebrate Christmas right after Halloween, but instead are caught up in following the tradition of Thanksgiving. Whether it be your parents, friends, or siblings encouraging you to stick to the status quo, always be yourself, and celebrate what you wish!
“If it were up to me, I would begin celebrating Christmas on November 1st, but my parents disagree, and I know a lot of others do too,” Junior Sydney Hamilton said.
While it’s clear that many students begin celebrating Christmas early, others believe Thanksgiving is too important to forget. The well known holiday is full of delicious foods, and family celebrations, that undeniably play a significant role in the holiday season.
“I believe it’s currently Thanksgiving season, because turkey deserves some attention. As soon as Black Friday ends, is when the Christmas celebration can truly begin,” Junior Mackenzie Carff said.
Thanksgiving is often underestimated, when in reality the holiday contains a deeper meaning. Many families make it a tradition to celebrate, and honor who, and what they’re thankful for, making the holiday even more special.
If you’re like me, I encourage everyone to celebrate and give both Thanksgiving, and Christmas the attention they deserve. The holiday season is meant to include both holidays, and isn’t limited to just one specific celebration. Before it’s too late, make sure to enjoy, and anticipate each and every celebration this holiday season!
