As the Hockey season begins, the varsity team gets a new captain, junior Jackson Meyer. These Crusaders are ready for the season to begin and accomplish new goals, and get some wins.
Meyer is setting up goals for the team, and looks to beat anyone against them. To help him do so, he looks to senior Jared Penning whose stats are unmatched from last season. With 15 goals, and 12 assists, making a total of 27 points, along with goalie sophomore Easton Bristow at the net. Bristow, only being a freshman, made an impact with playing 475 minutes, and 325 saves.
“I am excited to play hard opponents and I will definitely look for guidance from Jared Penning, who is a big role model for me,” Meyer said.
Meyer is looking forward to spending time with his teammates and having fun on, and off the ice. They all have a tight bond which really gives them an upper hand with team chemistry. They all have each other’s backs and will look out for their teammates.
“We all get along great and always have fun together. Which helps out our team on the ice,” Meyer said.
The team will face many challenging opponents, but the hardest one will be Fort Zumwalt West. Fort Zumwalt West previously won the Wickenheiser Cup. Meyer sees this as an opportunity to show them what they have to offer, and take a win from these champions. These competitors are not here to let teams roll over them, but to give it their all and make a name for St. Dominic Hockey.
“I am ready to play Fort Zumwalt West and show them we are not a team that will give up on a win,” Meyer said.
The boys first preseason tournament is the Saint Chuck Cup. The last game of this tournament will be played against the Zumwalt West Lions, at the Wentzville Ice Arena, so make sure to come out and support our guys battle it out!
