Many friendships form during the sports season, but St.Dominic’s Girls Golf team has a bond like no other. The Crusaders Girls Golf team is made up of seventeen talented players, from a variety of grade levels.
The team has worked together to produce outstanding scores this season. As districts approach, the girls continue to practice weekly as they finish up their last home matches.
“I love our team dynamic and how much it feels like a family. We are all very close and spend a lot of time together,” Junior Annabelle Bush said.
Annabelle is the only junior on varsity, and leads the younger girls with her dedication to the game. Annabelle has been playing golf for nine years now, and hopes to play in college after a strong senior season coming up.
The dynamic of the golf team is founded by the close bond of the players. The girls have continued traditions of post match Texas Roadhouse dinners, and eating together on half days before they tee off.
These Crusader ladies broke a record as they placed third in the Angel Classic tournament, hosted by Saint Joseph’s Academy at the Golf Club Of Wentzville. The eight varsity players are in the final stretch of matches before they compete for districts, which leads to state.
“My favorite memory from my experience on the team is state last year and the journey to get there,” Sophomore Bella Daniels said.
Daniels is a huge asset to the SDHS girls golf team, as she made it to state as a freshman last season. Daniel has continued to show off her skills this season and hopes to compete at state again.
The golf program will recognize the three seniors on the team as they play on senior night against Incarnate Word Academy this week. The seniors include: Elise Kehoe, Emma Bland and Caitlyn Kennedy who are holding on to these last moments together.
The girls golf team balances competition and friendship as they strive to dominate these final matches with support of one another.
