There are two kinds of people in this world: cat people and dog people, and with the recent uprising of a new-found dog breed, many have flocked to see what this canine had in store. Originating in Palm Bay, Florida, the Blue Bay Shepherd was created by a breeder named Vicki Spencer. She wanted to design a breed that was both gentle and loving, with the looks of a wolf. It was created by crossing the German shepherd with the Alaskan malamute and the timber wolf, producing a unique and versatile working dog. And thus, the Blue Bay Shepherd was born.
It took a part of the internet by storm with viral edits of this adorable dog breed and its loving, loyal personality. Though, since it is such a new breed, it is considered a rare breed, and many scams have arisen because of this. People have begun to sell German Shepherd dogs and claim that they are Blue Bay Shepherds. The ones that have been approved come from Spencer herself.
“They [Blue Bay Shepherds] will not carry the stigma of the name ‘wolf’, ‘wolf dog’ or ‘wolf hybrid’ since one of the parents is a full German Shepherd and the other parent is 5 generations away from any pure wolf in their line. . .” Vicki Spencer said, on her website https://www.blue-bay-shepherds.com/.
Many people have found Blue Bay shepherds to have a family-friendly temperament, sharing traits with the German shepherd. Blue Bay shepherds are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and strong working drive. They are highly trainable and excel in various tasks such as obedience training, scent work, agility, and search and rescue. These dogs are also known for their protective nature, making them excellent guardians of their families and properties.
In terms of behavior, Blue Bay shepherds are typically affectionate, eager to please, and loyal to their owners. They are known for their strong bonds with their families and tend to be good with children and other animals when properly socialized. However, due to their high energy level and working instincts, they require regular exercise, mental stimulation, and consistent training to be well-adjusted pets.
