Dua Lipa takes son the 2023 Met Gala red carpet.

The 2023 Met Gala, biggest fashion event of the year, has an interesting, and unseen-before theme, that being a person. “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”, German designer, who transformed Chanel fashion into art.

Lagerfeld died in 2019 at the age of 85, which was heartbreaking for many of his friends, and fans. At the Met, we saw lots of black and white, with some pops of color every once in a while. This year was truly one of the best on-theme years the Gala has seen.

  1. Andrew Saffir and Daniel Benedict, two people, but their looks complemented each other so well, I had to put them together. They both perfectly depicted Karls everyday look. A nice, clean suit with some sort of bling or flower accent. The look was completely inspired by Karl, they were even decked out in some of Chanel’s jewelry.

  1. Phoebe Bridgers’ gown was simple, yet it symbolized Karl’s love for elegance, and pearls. Her black gown had pearls all over it, along with sheer cutouts, and it was backless! The back was only a few straps with pearls, creating a timeless look Karl would have loved.

  1. Jeremy Pope took a different approach when it came to the red carpet. Pope wore a 30 foot long cape with Karl’s face on it. 70 people, thousands of silk chiffon yards, and a hand drawn image of Karl. This cape had to be styled with something simple, black pants to be exact. This outfit took up the entire carpet. Talk about a show stopper.

  1. Tems’ gown was jaw dropping gorgeous. She had that classic black and white moment, but the top of her dress and hairpiece was the center of the show. She had wire, with feathers at the tip, everywhere. You could not miss her on the carpet, she really made a statement.

  1. Margot Robbie had more of a simple, elegant dress. Although this dress was a remake of Cindy Crawdord’s 1993 Chanel Gown. This dress had a see through corset with gold chains, and the iconic black material, that could be worn as a scarf, over the shoulder, or draping down in front. This Barbie star was the last Chanel Ambassador Karl picked, making this event sentiments for her.

  1. Anne Hathaway’s Versace symboliced Karl and his intricate details. Her white tweed dress had safety pins, pearls, and flower details. This sophisticated dress ran the red carpet, and Karl would be so proud of this creation.

  1. Couple Hannah Bagshawe and Eddie Redmayne, showed up on the theme, and fabulous together. Chanel is known for pearls, thanks to Karl, and Hannah was decked out to say the least. The floor-length dress included the top, completely with pearls, and the bottom, cascading in ruffles. Eddie matched wonderfully with her, his suit had loads of pearl flower pins and chans, and Karl signature move.

  1. Nicole Kidman’s dress was extra special this night. Her dress was something she’s worn before, in the 2004 Chanel Nº5 commercial campaign. Karl designed this dress and worked closely with Nicole, so this was an extra special moment for her. The whimsy, and timeless dress is blush pink, with feathers and a little bit of sparkle.

  1. Sydney Sweeney’s Miu Miu floor length dress brought some color to the carpet. This rose pink dress was embellished with jewels in the shape of flowers. The bottom of her dress had a black bow, and she tied that into her hair, by also adding a black ribbon.

  1. Dua Lipa’s Chanel 1992 couture wedding dress was the most elegant thing I have ever seen. This vintage dress was designed by Karal, and originally worn by Claudia Schiffer, when it hit the runway. She also got to showcase a never-seen beofre Tiffany Co. neckalar The dress is one of the perfect classifications brought to the Met red carpet.

There are many more celebrities who were absolutely stunning, but these top ten really understood the assignment, and honored Karl in an unbelievable way. Make sure to check out Vogue.com to see more amazing looks from the 2023 Met Gala.
