Top Five Crusader Cafe foods
The Crusader Cafe is a huge staple here in the St. Dominic community, and one that is growing in popularity. Everyday, the cafeteria is filled with eager students waiting to purchase daily specials and delicious foods. The cafe houses a large variety of meals, making it difficult to choose. However, there are some favorites that Dominic students go to first.
- Brownies. Recently the Crusader Cafe released new brownies. These gooey chocolate treats are topped with a generous amount of icing and include sprinkles to brighten your day! Unlike most items, the Brownies are new this year and have definitely stolen the spotlight.
“When opting for a sweet treat I always go for a brownie. They’re usually the freshest,” Clemens said.
- Fruit Cups. While the Crusader Cafe houses a variety of yummy foods, they also provide many healthy options, such as fresh fruit cups. Enjoyed by many, these fruit cups range from grapes and cheese, to caramel and apples, and even Nutella and strawberries.
“I love the fresh strawberries with the creamy nutella. They’re really good to have as a snack,” Sophomore Jake Markowski said.
- Personal Pizza Kit. Recently released, the cafe’s flatbread pizza kit does not disappoint! The kit contains flatbread dough, red sauce, mozzarella cheese, and even pepperoni! No doubt, this pizza is definitely an upgrade from pizza lunchables!
“The flatbread is something different to eat. It definitely hits the spot,” Koenemann said.
- The Cinnamon Roll. Dominic’s delicious cinnamon rolls never disappoint. They are the most unique treats that warms both your stomach and heart. These tasty pastries are baked to perfection, filled with cinnamon, and topped with a generous amount of icing.
“My favorite food is the cinnamon rolls because they taste so good. They’re simply the best treat,” Sophomore Marissa Clemens said.
- Chicken Finger and Fries Basket. While this basket is only available on select days, it is arguably one of the best Crusader Cafe items. The basket with crispy chicken tenders and fresh fries heavily entices students. It’s easy to see why this choice is loved by St. Dominic staff and students.
“I love it when the cafeteria sells chicken strips and fries baskets. It is such a good meal and always sets me up to have a great afternoon,” Sophomore Erica Jurgensmeyer said.
Many students enjoy dipping their chicken fingers and fries in the delicious Crusader Sauce.
“The crusader sauce is tasty and unique to the St.Dominic community,” Sophomore Sarah Koenemann said.
The Crusader Cafe never disappoints and continues to satisfy students’ stomachs and hearts! Make sure you try one of these delicious dishes at lunch!
