Under the Lights
The spring sports are looking forward to the new scoreboard.
When people think about the high school experience they often think of sports and community. St. Dominic displays an incredible amount of pride and unity for sports, and is always looking to improve each program.
The scoreboard is the main focus of each game that is played. The numbers written across the board draws the most emotion out of the crowd. With the new scoreboard and score table, St. Dominic will be able to represent all of its amazing athletes.
The new scoreboard and score table are much more advanced and sophisticated to their predecessors. They also have newer technology which allows for more people to enjoy the game from anywhere.
“The score table in the gym now has an interactive LED panel that allows us to put video and anything we want really, instead of a static vinyl picture like we had. We could put our live stream to it, put instant replays, and SO much more,” Director of Technology, Mr. Doug Small said.
The stadium scoreboard, which was put in just after the 2022 football season has also been upgraded greatly.
“The scoreboard at the stadium is an upgrade because it’s basically the same as the scores table but on a much bigger scale. It is also 4k and just lightyears better than what we had,” Small said.
While the new equipment is obviously more advanced it is also a million times more efficient than the previous ones.
“The graphics cards in them are so much better which makes for a better viewing experience,” Small said.
The new equipment is much nicer and will enhance the experience of viewing a game from all perspectives, however new equipment was much needed for technical reasons as well. Like it breaking down during games.
St. Dominic certainly does a great job updating its equipment in all regards, and is technically ahead of other schools in the area in this aspect.
“Most schools I have seen have the basic score table with no video board,” Small said.
St. Dominic is always putting its funds back into the school, like enhancing the sport watching experience this spring, and more in the future. Our community cares about its students and visitors alike, and succeeds in making everyday a great day to be a Crusader.

Sydney Hamilton is a Sophomore at St. Dominic. She is involved in Track and Cheer. Her hobbies include reading, drawing and baking.
