Spring Showers Bring Cardinals Baseball

VEB Daily

The Cardinals are excited to start this seasons spring training.

With the St. Louis Blues out of the playoff picture and all of the City games already sold out, sports fans around Missouri look forward to the return of baseball. The Cardinals swung into spring training in Jupiter, Florida with new additions to the team competing for a job. Spring training allows the players and fans to get a feel for the upcoming 2023 season.

Spring training is a great opportunity for baseball fans to travel and see the competition before the season starts. Many fans gather during this time and cheer on the Cardinals during spring break. The tickets quickly sell out making it an exciting experience for the players and fan base.

The St.Louis Cardinals train during this time for a chance for a successful season. Using their new players to get a feel for the team atmosphere, the Cardinals have already made a difference in their play with the additions of some fine young players.

The Cardinals have taken a step in the right direction by gaining Jordan Walker and Masyn Winn. Both players have had a sensational spring performing and growing with the team on and off the diamond. Shortstop Masyn Winn hit a 435 foot line drive last Friday against the New York Mets while also achieving a 99.9 MPH throwing average in the same game. Winn has stolen the show early on and fans are excited to see his development. Walker has had quite the performance so far in week one and is showing he belongs on the opening day roster. Walker is known for his good presence on the field and he proved that last week in a game against the Nationals, Walker went 4-4 with two homers. Cardinal fans haven’t been this excited about a player since big number five!

There roster is not only full of rookies but veterans that are just as ready as before. Nolan Arenado, who has been wearing red since 2021, has had a remarkable training season while playing third base. Nolan is known as a leader on a team and a dependable player to the St. Louis Cardinals. Another player who has stood out this preseason is Jack Flaherty. Flaherty was silent due to an injury last season but has started three innings this spring. He threw 95 MPH and struck out five during his huge debut back on the mound. Flaherty and Steven Matz, who has also been solid this spring, will help shore up the Cardinal rotation.

As we head through March Maness the anticipation for the Cardinals opener will just grow and grow. The St. Louis Cardinals first regular season game is March 30th against the Blue Jays. The start of a baseball season in the STL means more opportunities for the city to grow. Many fans will attend at least one game this season and enjoy watching this electric team through the regular season and hopefully on into the playoffs in October.
