Cheer and Dance pumps up fans during the State semifinals.

As the football players head to their Class 4 State Championship game, cheer and dance will follow with full support. As neither team has gone to Mizzou for a high school football game before, all of the girls are taking this moment in.

“I am most excited for the bus ride and another football game with the seniors,’’ Sophomore Bella Hammond said.

Most of the cheerleaders are expecting a great fight from the Crusaders. The girls have watched this team progress throughout this season more than anyone else, and they are ready to see what they bring to the table against St. Mary’s.

“No matter the outcome of Friday’s game they’ve made school history and they have a chance to make more. St. Dominic couldn’t be more proud of this team and how far they’ve made it,” Junior Ilonka Guilliams said.

Most of the team wasn’t expecting to be able to be on the field for this game. In reality, they have always been able to support the teams they cheer for at state.

“St. Dominic has gone to state for soccer numerous times, and cheer has got to go to state with the girls’ basketball team and I believe Coach Toland was a cheerleader at that time on my team. So we did expect to get to go to cheer on a ball like we had the other teams,” Head Coach Michelle Staebell.

Dance is also pumped up for this opportunity that might not come again for a long time. This game is huge and exciting for all teams that are cheering, or playing on the field.

“I am most excited to be cheering at Mizzou because it is so big and I know the student section will be pumped and thankful for this opportunity,” Sophomore Katie Smith said.

This week cheer, dance and football hit the road to Mizzou on Friday for the State Championship. All teams can’t wait to perform for their Crusader fans and watch this game of a lifetime.
