Are you Ready for Change?

Construction of the new tennis courts

As the 2015-2016 school year comes around, students might notice a few big changes in the St. Dominic community.

For starters, the construction on the new tennis courts is ahead of schedule. There will be four courts lined up north to south. The courts should be ready for the start of girls tennis in the fall.

The original SDHS cafeteria from 1962 will be getting a face lift. There will be new floors, new paint and a mural where the vending machines are currently located as well as some drain and electrical upgrades. With Stuco’s help, President Fetter chose new oblong tables with seats attached to them. There will also be some round tables. In addition, the serving area will be enlarged. There will also be a rack with pre-made sandwiches, salads, fruits and much more. Students will also see a new “pizza maker.” Students will be able to make their own personal pizza from a topping bar. Then it will go through the oven, which cooks them in a very short fashion. Students can also warm up sandwiches. There will be a new, expanded salad bar. Overall, there will be an increase of space in the lunchroom.

The softball fields will be getting new dugouts for the 2015 season! The project will start as soon as the last freshman and JV boys’ games are played. SDHS is trying to make equal facilities for the boys and girls teams. The girls’ dugouts will be almost identical to the boys’. They should be finished in late May or early June.

We should be looking forward to all of these new changes for the next school year.
