SDAA Golf Tournament Hole-In-One!
The sold-out SDAA annual golf tournament took place September15, supporting St. Dominic’s Athletic Association. It was lots of fun for our parents, friends and family who got to catch up with each other while supporting St. Dominic athletics and having a great time.
260 golfers and 30 volunteers resulted in the tournament being sold out for over a month. The audience is made up of parents, alumni (and their parents), and friends of St. Dominic. Mr Welby, St. Dominic’s President, couldn’t be more excited about this turnout, and gave a speech at the beginning of the tournament to thank our sponsors.
“I volunteer at the tournament. This year we honored a family that helped start the tournament 24 years ago, so I did that, and I thank all of our players and sponsors. We have literally dozens and dozens of sponsors, but the lead sponsor this year was Golden Oak Lending, which is Bennett ’23 and Lulu ’25 Hawkins family,” Welby said.
Not just the golfers enjoyed the tournament. Everyone had such a great time socializing and reconnecting, especially our alumni. The tournament allows the St. Dominic family to reconnect and emphasize the pillar of community. Mr Welby especially liked this concept, as he is passionate about how much St. Dominic does for the community around the school.
“It is a really cool day to visit with families and alumni who all want to talk about St. Dominic. It’s actually really cool,” Welby Said.
The SDAA golf tournament is a yearly tradition that everyone loves being a part of, no matter if you participate or not. It supports St. Dominic’s Athletic Association, and with our sold-out audience and endless sponsors, the day was a complete success.
