Running Forward
The track team has been improving immensely throughout the season, and it certainly shows. Times have improved, distance has increased and overall performance continues to rise, but the season isn’t over and neither is the track’s team strive for excellence.
In a meet, each track participant can compete in up to four events. This is where the athlete’s dedication, work and skill is put to the test. These events consist mainly of sprints, long distance, high jump, pole vaulting, triple jump and throwing. The team has placed in almost every event and strives to go further and work harder with every goal they meet. With hard work, determination and help from coaches Fitzler, Kuebler, Markway and Yates, the team has flourished.
“We have a young team and because of that, a goal for the team this year would be to improve and to see the team achieve their goals,” said Coach Markway.
The boys’ track team recently earned third place in the AAA Conference Championship and the girls scored in 10 of the 11 events in the AAA Conference Championship. This has surely been a year of improvement as a team and personally. The time and commitment of the track team has been what has made the team so successful as they work toward districts.
Come out on Saturday, May 16, to support our team for districts at Parkway Central from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
