During round one, St. Dominic and Priory played head to head. In the first half Priory took the lead scoring a goal 35 seconds into the game. Johnny Petruso changes the game as he puts the Crusaders ahead 2-1.
Moving into the second half, Priory scores a penalty kick right off the bat, but still falls to Dominic 3-2. Aiden Rolling and Petruso both scored two goals, finishing off their first game in the tournament. St. Dominic took the win 5-2 against Priory and prepared to play Wentzville Holt in round two.
Round two kicked off slowly for the Crusaders, in the first half they let one in by Holt. They put up a fight, but they were not able to get a goal in the second half. The Crusaders come back stronger in the second half as Johnny Petruso gets one in tying with Holt 1-1.
The last round in the tournament St. Dominic played against Lindbergh High. The first goal made by Michael Holliday was a penalty kick, which put the Crusaders ahead 1-0. Only a couple minutes later the Lafata brothers took charge and made a goal together along the left post.
With only ten seconds left in the first half, junior Vince Bishof received the ball from George Morrow and put it in the net. During the second half, no goal was made by St. Dominic or Lindburg, but the boys never gave up as they won 3-0.
The boys varsity soccer team ended their own tournament as the 2022 St. Dominic FastLane Super Cup Champions. The boys next big game will be the 10th annual Footprints Benefit match on September 29th, make sure to clear your calendars and come out to support the team.
