Girls Volleyball Hyped Up

As the 2022 school year has already begun, the fall athletic season is rapidly approaching. Girls varsity volleyball is fired up as they have been tirelessly practicing all summer. The program has brought on new coaches to ensure a strong season as well.

Varsity Coach Courtney Bland is entering her 19th season as a head volleyball coach and her 9th here at St. Dominic. Coach Bland has been pushing her players during the off-season to keep fundamentals strong. She holds high standards and hopes for this season.

“I would like this to be an amazing journey from beginning to end for each girl in our program.  I want our girls to feel this is one of the best parts of their highschool experience,” Bland said.

This year, Coach Baker makes her debut as the program wide setting coach and JV coach. Her extra help will increase the players volleyball IQ and knowledge throughout all parts of the game.

“Her expertise will help ensure we are getting consistency in our whole program for all offenses,” Bland said.

Freshman Carolina also meets new Coach Linville to the program. Linville has great college experience to bring to lower levels in order to increase performance in their future.

“This is the strongest volleyball coaching staff we have had at St. Dominic thus far,” Bland said.

Varsity player Ella Bland has grown up playing volleyball since her start in third grade. Since she’s been playing at St. Dominic, her skill levels have increased tremendously. Bland has high expectations for her senior season.

“My hopes are for our team to win state. It’s been our goal for a while and each year we get a little closer,” Bland said.

Girls Varsity Volleyball has been preparing for their strongest season yet. With new coaches and high expectations, the players are determined to make it to state this year. Make sure to come support their first home game on August 29th against Westminster Christian Academy!
