Turning sixteen is a huge milestone in a teens life. You get your license, and if you’re lucky, you get a car all to yourself. When driving down the street, the bright, shiny cars are the ones that catch everyone’s eye. St. Dominic doesn’t just only have cool students, we also have plenty of cool cars.

Senior Ava Gentry is the proud owner of a 2020 black Ford Mustang EcoBoost. Base models of the Ford Mustang have a 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine that delivers an impressive 310 horsepower. This means that it takes just 5.1 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. This feature is perfect for car lovers like Ava.

“It’s a fun car; it goes fast, and the top comes down, so that’s even more fun. My car gets me somewhere faster than a normal car would,” Gentry said. 

However, Ava is not the only senior with a Mustang model. Dylan Huelskamp calls a 2016 red Mustang V6 his ride. The car is equipped with a similar 300 horsepower engine. The V6 is not a car for the weak at driving. With a 16 gallon tank, you are in for hours of fast-driving fun. 

“I used to have an Audi. I don’t have that car anymore, but I’m honestly glad though. I really love my Mustang,” Huelskamp said. 

Here at St. Dominic, we even have our very own car expert. Senior Clayton Davis has owned many cars and loves everything about them. Davis currently owns a 1993 Davis B2200, but he is in the process of buying a 1997 Honda Civic. 

“I love cars, I love drag racing and drifting. It’s something I am good at. As I grew up being the only one into cars in my family, I had to teach myself everything. I now have 3 ASE which stands for Automotive Service Excellence. It is the certification you need to work on specific groups of parts on a car,” Davis said.
