The Avengers: Age of Ultron: An Honest Review
Given the hype surrounding the second installment in the Avengers series, Age of Ultron, it was clear that a proper review was in order. For those of you who haven’t seen the first Avengers, don’t worry; this film had little correlation to its predecessor. In fact, Age of Ultron was unique in itself; it would be wrong to say it is “better” than the first Avengers, simply because it is incomparable to the first film.
In Age of Ultron, the Avengers team up (through trial and error) against Ultron, a villainous A.I (artificial intelligence) fueled by deranged intentions and determined to destroy Earth.
The action was intense. Incredible. Every aspect/element of action stood apart, carefully and intrinsically crafted. The special effects were unbelievable, almost unreal. It was like I was in the movie itself. I could honestly say it was one of the few action movies that managed to fully grab my attention throughout the entire movie. Not very many movies have that effect on me, especially one 2.5 hours long. I was surprised at the amount of humor throughout the film, especially Tony Stark’s dialogue. The humor didn’t take away from the suspense, but it did stand out in a good way.
Although confusing at times, Age of Ultron kept me on my toes as I tried piecing together information while staying alert to unfolding events. The plot wasn’t terribly difficult to follow, but I’ll admit I’m not a true Marvel fan, so some parts had me wondering what the heck was going on. I was still able to get a general understanding of the movie, but I’ll probably have to watch it a second time to make clear certain parts of the film.
Overall, the film was definitely worth watching. I was especially intrigued with the action and special effects, to which I give the film 10/10. Plot receives 8/10, only because I feel they could have made the last 20 minutes clearer to the viewer. I liked the fact that although the movie is centered upon the sense of teamwork amongst the Avengers, it also manages to focus on each Avenger individually, giving a respectable subplot to each.
If you love superheroes, action, special effects and seeing the Hulk smash things, then I recommend heading out and seeing this movie. It’s quite worth it, despite its length. You won’t be let down.
