Spring Break in the Show-Me State

That Away Dad

Meramec State Park is just one of the many places you can visit over spring break right here in Missouri

Spring break is quickly approaching for the St. Dominic community. With this in mind, many students and teachers are planning to go out of town, while others are choosing to stay closer to home. Although traveling out of state is exciting, there are still tons of fun and adventurous activities to do here in the state of Missouri.

St. Louis City Museum

From first glance, the City Museum looks like any other building in the city. However, when you look a little higher up, you will see planes and school buses over the edge of the rooftop, along with a Ferris wheel. That’s just the beginning; there’s even more craziness to be discovered on the inside.

Once you enter the building, you will instantly be overwhelmed with all the unique activities that give you the chance to paint, build, ride a train, skateboard in an indoor park or attend lessons at a circus. On top of that, there are three levels of mazes and rooms to climb and explore.

Essentially, the St. Louis City Museum isn’t your typical museum. The museum is a rare combination of a playground for “kids” of all ages and a fun house with crazy art. The City Museum is one of the top things to do in Missouri!

August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area

If you are like me and enjoy being outdoors, August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area is the place for you. The park is open from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the week and is located in St. Charles County, Missouri. Although the conservation area may be close to the city, it is still considered part of the wild.

The Memorial Conservation area consists of a total of 6,987 acres that include 38 numbered lakes, along with 3,000 acres of grasslands and hiking trails. Whether you are fishing or hiking, there is beautiful scenery at every turn.

August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area is the perfect place to visit if you are looking for something peaceful and relaxing to do outdoors for spring break.

Meramec State Park

Meramec State Park is just the place to visit if you’re a lover of adventure. There are several activities to do at Meramec State Park, such as camping, hiking, swimming, fishing and more.

Many people enjoyed spending time on the river, whether they’re looking to catch some fish or just some rays of sun. No visit to the park would be complete without a tour of Fisher Cave.

For those who’d rather not get their feet wet, there are plenty of other scenic opportunities. Meramec Park includes more than 13 miles of hiking trails available to the public for exploring. Along some of these trails you will come across wooded areas and dramatic cave entrances. If you are up for exercise and fresh air, these hikes are definitely for you!

Spring break allows both students and staff to step back from school life and focus on relaxing and spending time with family. Don’t worry if you don’t have any big plans for next week because there are endless places to explore right here in the Show-Me State!
