As many strong athletes set to compete in the 2022 Winter Olympics, here is a run down of what sets our athletes apart from the rest.

February 4 marked the Opening Ceremony for the 2022 Winter Olympics and our athletes are aiming to bring home the gold. With the United States having many dominant athletes holding championship titles going into the games, we are in store for a great month of chillingly good wins.

U.S. skier Mikaela Shiffrin brought home gold in the 2014 and 2018 games and is predicted to do so again this year. Shiffrin is expected to be a top contender as she is the first skier in World Cup history to win 47 slalom races in a single discipline.

That’s not all the USA has in store for the slopes. Freestyle skier Alex Ferreira is traveling to Beijing and is an Olympic medal favorite. Ferreira won silver in Pyeongchang in 2018 after his spectacular performance in the ski halfpipe.

The United States Women’s Hockey team released its stacked roster and are ready to defend their gold medal in Beijing this month. Out of their 23 players, 15 have previously been on the olympic team. Among these players is forward Hilary Knight. Knight is returning for her fourth Olympics and is determined to once again settle the USA hockey rivalry against Canada. The event will be a must see if the two teams meet again in the finals.

Speed skater Erin Jackson will also be making her second Olympic appearance in Beijing. Teammate Brittany Bose gave up her spot for Jackson to be able to compete in the games. Jackson is currently ranked number one in the women’s 500 meter by the International Skating Union and will be competing in this event in the games.

Be sure to watch the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing beginning on February 4, and closing on February 20.
