“Kicking and Screaming” For A Title

Girls Varsity Soccer Team

As this season nears to a close, it’s safe to say that the St. Dominic girls soccer team has once again held up to its reputation of being a powerhouse squad in the state of Missouri and even in the country. Ranked second in the area, with a solid 17-0-4 record, these girls know how to play the game and hope to take that into the nearing playoffs.

With experienced players, several honorable state titles, a coach who is as legendary as Vince Lombardi and youngsters who are as excited to get in the game as little kids in a candy store, these Crusaders bring a unique style of play to the table. In fact, as of May 6th, the St. Dominic girls soccer team is ranked a celestial number one overall in the St. Louis area and has only allowed 14 goals defensively, while puncturing the back of the net with 61 goals of their own. Beautiful chemistry is one reason this team has had success.

“Our greatest asset this year as a team is the great blend of experience these older girls have, mixed in with the new energy provided by freshmen and sophomores,” said Coach Koeller.
With any great team, there are tough competitions to face. Nothing great was ever achieved without overcoming obstacles. To be the best, you must beat the best.
“We play the toughest schedule out there; all-girls schools such as St. Joseph’s Academy, Incarnate Word, and Ursuline Academy are always a battle because of the level of play they bring to the table,” said Coach Koeller.
As the Crusaders’ regular season comes to a close, we near a chapter of soccer that is legendary, the one, the only, pla-pla-pla-playoffs! Coach Koeller believes his squad is ready to bring its “A” game no matter whom the girls face.
“Visitation,  Incarnate Word,  Webster groves, Rockwood Summit, and Notre Dame de Sion in Kansas City will all be solid squads we could see,” said Coach Koeller.
As school and athletics start to come to a sorrowful conclusion, there is one thing for sure: watch out for these Crusaders at the end of the season. If they keep performing as they have in the regular season, these ladies will put on a show and make a dramatic post-season run.
