Disney vs. Pixar
There is nothing quite like curling up on the couch and queueing up your favorite animated film. Like many of you, Disney and Pixar movies were an integral part of my childhood. I grew up singing along to “Hakuna Matata” and dressing up as various princesses. There is no denying that these movies are loved by fans of all ages, but the real question is: which animation company is better, Disney or Pixar?
Disney
Starting off the comparison are the classic Disney movies. This category offers all movies from the first-ever Disney film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937, to the studio’s most recent release, Raya and the Last Dragon. Given there are nearly 60 Disney Animated films, these movies offer a wide variety of genres and animation styles. Movies like The Lion King and The Emperor’s New Groove are action-packed 2D flicks while films such as Frozen and Tangled are 3D musicals.
“I like Disney movies better because I’ve grown up watching the movies and going to Disney World. I just think that Disney’s movies are of a higher quality with better story lines,” senior Kennedy Jones said.
Pixar
Pixar movies began with Toy Story in 1995, and since then, the studio has produced features such as Cars, Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. These movies are unique because they are relatively new and entirely digitally animated. Pixar movies explore many cool concepts with several even earning sequels.
“I enjoy Pixar movies more because the animation is super cool and the characters are always so funny and relatable,” senior Liv Knobbe said.
For many, these animated movies are iconic and nostalgic, bringing people back to simpler times. Whether you enjoy amusing Pixar features or the classic Disney films, I think we can all agree that watching these movies make us feel like we are in the “happiest place on earth.”
