The St. Dominic community added many new staff members this school year, and one of them is Mr. Bratkowski. Mr. Bratkowski is an experienced English teacher who is looking forward to a fun and exciting year!

Bratkowski has been teaching for 16 years, with 11 of those years spent at Ursuline Academy. The biggest adjustment to St. Dominic has been the opportunity to teach both boys and girls, after teaching only one gender for so long.

Mr. Bratkowski knew that he wanted to be a teacher after working as a camp counselor and getting to teach books and stories to younger peers. This year, he teaches both British Literature and American Literature for juniors and seniors.

Although he has not been here too long, Mr. Bratkowski already enjoys St. Dominic. “I was really impressed by the vibe I felt when I came to St. Dominic! I loved all the energy in the building, and the students are great,” said Mr. Bratkowski

Outside of teaching, Mr. Bratkowski loves running marathons and cracking open a good book. He also has two children, Tori and Luke, who are seven and nine. Together as a family they enjoy hiking, walking, camping, swimming and watching movies together.

If Mr. Bratkowski could only teach one lesson to his students, it would be, “the importance of kindness and patience. I know that sounds cliche, but I think those are important qualities that sometimes get lost in our world today.”

Mr. Bratkowski is a new member of St. Dominic, but already he feels at home. He is a great addition to our English department and community as a whole, so let’s do our best to make him feel welcome!
