Giving Back Gratitude: Thank-A-Thon 2021
If you’re involved in theater, sports, clubs or any other extracurricular activities, you should always acknowledge the hundreds of donors to St. Dominic who make all of it possible. That’s exactly what eight of our students here did on Wednesday afternoon during the annual Thank-A-Thon.
From 3pm to 5:30pm at the Dominican Center, volunteers called the list of donors to thank them for their gifts that make this school truly great. Dinner and drinks were provided, and students received service hours for their amazing work.
“People make big sacrifices to give what they can to our school, and it’s really special to hear how impactful their gifts are,” Thank-A-Thon coordinator, Mrs. Stacie Ballad, said.
St. Dominic donors always appreciate the Thank-A-Thon, and the interactions with our students.
“It is always great to hear from St. Dominic students. I try to always give back what I can,” donor Mr. Bob Whitman said.
It was not only beneficial for the donors, but also for the students. It lets them meet the people who make their fun, invigorating and special high school experience possible! It is also just a great community event that helps volunteers practice the virtue of gratitude.
“I felt really honored to be able to tell the donors at St. Dominic how their donations impact the school. I was so happy to talk to the alumni, parents and grandparents who share the same love for St. Dominic that I do. I hope that I made a positive impact in their day and reminded them that the students at St. Dominic are so fortunate to have supporters like them,” junior and Thank-A-Thon volunteer, Alina Kohout, said.
The Thank-A-Thon started three years ago as an initiative to give back to those who give us so much. Last year during the Thank-A-Thon, we were in lockdown and distance learning, so it could not take place as a community event. Instead, participants created a thank-you video and emailed it out to all of the donors. This allowed everyone to feel appreciated while we were still stuck at home.
The Thank-A-Thon is a much appreciated event that brings gratitude into the lives of all Crusaders. Thank you to all of our donors!
