Future Business Leaders of America
FBLA is an SDHS school club started in 2003 that teaches students about business and the real world.
Each month, the members of FBLA meet. They tour businesses, go to social events and even have guest speakers that share their business experience. Then, they go to districts, which are held in Chesterfield Mall. During these competitions, participants compete in over 60 events such as computer skill and the presentations they prepared. The top five winners, including St. Dominic as the second place winner, will go on to state. They can travel to Springfield, Missouri, or complete an online objective test for the state competition, which was April 12-14 this year. The team is anxiously awaiting their results. The students in first place will move on to nationals in Chicago.
The leader of the club, Mrs. Felty, was in FBLA in her high school and college years.
“I have seen the benefit in many students’ lives over the years and this gives great real world experience in the competition,” said Mrs. Felty.
