Toilet Paper Drive is on a “Roll”
With Snowcoming week in full swing, we can’t forget about the annual toilet paper drive held by the Outreach Club. This is a great opportunity to support our community outside of St. Dominic. With your donations, St. Dominic can help those in need while also holding a friendly competition.
Snowcoming week isn’t all about the dress down themes and pep rallies, it’s also about donating. The Outreach Club is sponsoring the 5th annual toilet paper drive this week. All toilet paper will be donated to the Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Service and Bread for Life Food Pantry in Troy.
“I can speak for the Care Service, they provide 4 rolls per family per week. The TP we supply allows the Care Service to focus their funds to other areas of need,” Outreach Club moderator Mrs. Debbie Johnson said.
This year, the class who donates the most toilet paper will win a dress down day on Monday February 1. Although this is a sweet prize, the real winners are the charities who look forward to this drive every year.
“We should donate TP because it is not covered by food stamps and we all know how necessary it is. It can be an expense many families cannot afford,” Mrs. Johnson said.
Toilet paper has been in high demand during this pandemic making it hard to find for many families and individuals who may just struggle to put food on the table. In past years, St. Dominic has donated more than 3,000 to 4,000 rolls of toilet paper! Even though there isn’t a set goal this year, let’s still try to bring as much toilet paper as we can to help those in need.
Even if you already have brought in some, keep bringing in more toilet paper! Donations are being collected in the Sister Mary Bender Lobby every day until Friday. The winners of the dress down day will also be announced on Friday along with the total number of rolls collected. Be sure your class gets that dress down day by bringing in the most toilet paper!
