Night of Life: Safely Celebrate Being Pro-Life
With COVID-19 still running rampant, the Pro-Life pilgrimage with Generation Life STL has sadly been cancelled. However, St. Dominic has still found a way to safely celebrate life with their own Night of Life run by the Pro-Life club.
The Pro-Life March is usually held in Washington D.C. from the National Mall to the Capitol, with marchers peacefully protesting the legalization of abortions and defending the right for life.
The march has become an annual event since 1973, when the Roe vs. Wade case to legalize abortions was passed. While the march is still taking place in Washington this year, Generation Life STL, the sponsor for those from the Archdiocese of St. Louis, who choose to march in Washington, is going virtual. Despite these changes, the pandemic is not stopping St. Dominic in hosting a modified Pro-Life rally, similar to the experience in Washington D.C.
The Night of Life rally will be a free event held on January 27 in the PAC at St. Dominic. Doors will open at 6:30pm, but the activities will last from 7pm until about 8:30pm. With performances by Kyle Huelsing and his worship band, guest and student speakers, adoration, and games, it’s guaranteed to be a fun, faith-filled night to celebrate all aspects of life.
“I’m really disappointed we don’t have the Pro-Life trip this year, but I’m so excited for this opportunity to celebrate being Pro-Life!” junior Paige Hunt said.
Many students like Hunt, while disappointed about the pilgrimage, are looking forward to celebrating at this special St. Dominic event.
“Hearing witnesses in Washington is one of my favorite parts of the march so I’m super pumped to hear the guest speakers here! I’m also excited to celebrate and worship alongside Kyle Huelsing. He’s super talented and I love hearing his voice,” junior Hunter Bunge said.
With faith as one of the four pillars at St. Dominic, we are all called to be Pro-Life and show love and compassion toward others. So whether you are in the Pro-Life club, normally go on the march, or simply need something to do Wednesday night without spending any money, check out this incredible opportunity to celebrate being Pro-life at St. Dominic’s first ever Night of Life.
