Following the previous record breaking year of 2020, yesterday was the historical start to 2021 as new President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were sworn into US office.

At the very start of Biden’s inauguration speech, he highlighted the fact that as a nation, without the factor of togetherness, the United States will amount to nothing.

“For without unity, there’s no peace, only bitterness and fury. No progress, only exhausting outrage. No nation, only state of chaos…this is our historic moment of crisis and challenge…unity is the path forward,” Biden said in his speech.

Kamala Harris also had a very historical and memorable entrance into the United States government, as she is the first female, black, and south Asian to hold the Vice President position. Her mission as VP is to inspire all citizens to become the best person they can be.

“Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourselves in a way that others may not simply because they’ve never seen it before” Harris said after Biden’s Presidential victory in November.

The aftermath of the Presidential Election has still left Donald Trump in extreme doubt, as he was not present during the inauguration ceremony yesterday. Trump claims after more than two months after the election that there is still exceptional invalidity in the vote counting. Trump also affirms that he will be back into the US government soon.

“It has been an incredible four years. As the athletes would say, we have left it all on the field…we will be back in some form,” Trump said in his last official speech as President.

With Biden officially given the title of the President of the United States, his first step in action was to rejoin the World Health Organization. According to him, “We still have a long way to go,” however with America united there is nothing impossible.

Throughout the next four years, there will be many changes in America no matter what side you reside with. However, the one thing that no country, organization, or institution can survive without is the unification and perseverance of all participants. So, bring on the next four years America!
