All Out, All the Time
With last year being the first year for girls lacrosse, the team had a lot to learn. This year, players have been working hard to make this season a success. Now that they know the game, they have been improving on the fundamentals, such as catching, throwing and shooting.
The team has been going all out and practicing every chance they get. Being able to direct attention to key points of the game has been a focus at practice by setting picks, passing from longer distances, running plays, and doing give and go’s.
“We also have become much better shooters. Now that we have better coordination with the stick, it’s easier to place the ball in the net, rather than last year when we just threw it as hard as we could,” said Courtney Abt.
Mr. Hancock, the varsity coach, has a goal this year to just keep improving.
“Last year was our first year, so we are working on everything we can, from catching and throwing, picking up ground balls and right now we are mainly working on our defensive positioning,” said Mr. Hancock.
The team has been able to see how much they have improved since last year by playing Notre Dame and winning by a score of 18-3. As of now, the team has gained more confidence, and they will continue to put in the effort to be the best team they can be.
