The Hot-Take on Holiday Drinks

Starbucks

Starbucks just released their holiday cups we’ve been waiting for!

Starbucks and Dunkin’ have just released their seasonal holiday beverage, and we couldn’t be more excited! However, with so many different options, it’s hard to tell what drinks are the best—so I’m here to help break it down for you.

Starbucks

Starting with Starbucks, I tried two of their holiday beverages: the peppermint mocha latte and the caramel brûlée latte. Both drinks were fantastic, but if you’re really trying to get into the holiday spirit there’s a clear winner between the two.

The peppermint mocha latte not only warms you up, but the mix of peppermint, chocolate and marshmallows take you on a trip down memory lane. The blend of flavors sends a wave of nostalgia with every sip, and stirs up some holiday spirit that the caramel brûlée latte lacked.

As a big caramel fan, I was really looking forward to this latte; however, I was thoroughly disappointed. The drink itself was flavorful and delicious, but it didn’t have the same holiday appeal as the peppermint mocha latte. It did not make me reminiscent of the holiday spirit in the slightest, so if you’re trying to find some holiday cheer, I’d recommend the peppermint mocha.

Dunkin

As for Dunkin’s drinks, I decided to also try their version of the peppermint mocha latte, along with a new drink—the gingerbread latte. These coffees were also incredible, but this time they both really encapsulated the warm, fuzzy feelings of the holidays.

While I prefer Starbucks’ version of the peppermint mocha latte, Dunkin’s was still a similar masterpiece made up of peppermint, chocolate and marshmallow. However, Dunkin’s was served iced, unlike Starbucks, which was sold hot—I personally believe holiday drinks come better hot. Nonetheless, Dunkins’ version still filled me up with holiday spirit.

Dunkin’s second drink, the gingerbread latte, gave traditional holiday beverages a new twist. Instead of going the standard route with holiday flavors, this drink allowed a new side of the season to be shown. It was a bit sweeter, and included cinnamon, gingerbread and caramel. While the drink was iced, it had the ability to remind you of seasons past, sitting by the fire. This drink definitely blew Dunkin’s peppermint mocha latte out of the water.

There are many more drinks to try this holiday season, and there’s so many options that you can find your own flavor. Whatever type of coffee you prefer, there is a holiday beverage out there for you!
