Zendaya took home an Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in the show Euphoria on HBO.

This year’s Emmys were super special for a lot of people. Ever since the pandemic hit, people have been waiting for a special event like this to make life a little more normal. We all finally got to see the stars that we’ve been missing in action! It was not the same but at least we were allowed to witness this event.

“I will not lie to you. I would rather be doing this in front of an audience. You know, the fun part of it is getting laughs from people and this is like all of the work and none of the fun,” Late-Night host Jimmy Kimmel told The Daily Beast in an interview.

Since COVID-19 has affected the world of cinematography as well, the Emmys could not be the same this year and must be on a television broadcast; this year’s Emmys were on ABC. However, viewers without cable subscription can still watch the ceremony on YouTube TV or Hulu.

The celebrities attending the Emmys had to do so virtually. When rewarded with the Emmy, the live camera would then go to the person it was awarded to at home.

Despite taking COVID precautions, the night was still memorable. Zendaya is now the youngest woman to win an Emmy for lead actress in a drama series. She was also only the second black woman in history to win that award. Zendaya will forever make history as she continues her stellar career in acting!

“I want to say thank you to the TV Academy, to all the other incredible women in this category. I admire you all so much. This is pretty crazy. I don’t really cry. Thank you, HBO, and A24 for all your support. Thank you to my family and my team … I’m really grateful to have you here.” Zendaya said while accepting her Emmy from home.

This year’s Emmys definitely will be one for the books. It wasn’t the most normal way of doing things, but at least it still happened and was very well done. We can’t wait to see what next year’s Emmys brings!
