Stayin’ Sane and Connected at Home
During this time of social distancing, we can’t hang out with our friends and extended family. Because of that, many have learned how to still stay connected to loved ones during self-isolation, whether it’s by playing video games together or having more family bonding.
Sometimes we get tired of running outside or constantly doing chores since we are home all the time, so many people like to just sit down, chill and play some video games while talking to friends. Some popular games during this quarantine have been Fortnite, Call of Duty and NBA 2K20.
Fortnite has been around for a couple years now, but it’s still one of the biggest games out there. Friends can play together any time of the day and can talk to each other through chat or FaceTime. This game can be played on most devices, so you can also play anywhere (although that shouldn’t matter at the moment because everyone will be at home). Another plus is that plenty of girls play this game, too!
Now that it is getting nice outside, we don’t always want to be cooped up inside. The best way to relieve some stress is to just soak in the sunshine and enjoy nature by yourself or with family. Taking a walk around the neighborhood or a hike through trails is the perfect way to do this.
Some good family competition can’t hurt anyone either! Junior Lydia Cornett and her family have had plenty of fun playing kickball, lacrosse and a bunch more activities together.
“The way my family and I deal with quarantine is by keeping ourselves busy with family games. Each night we choose a different game and then play Air Pictionary, kickball, basketball, lacrosse, capture the flag, card games or board games. These games keep us busy enough to get through each day of quarantine,” Cornett said.
Believe it or not, there are a lot of ways to stay connected and make sure you still have fun during this time. The best way to do this is by being together with your family and making sure to keep in touch with friends, whether it’s by playing video games or just calling them on FaceTime. Stay safe everyone!
