Luke Bryan is Checkin’ Out
After six recordings and eight increasingly well-attended free concerts on Panama City Beach in Florida, Luke Bryan is stepping down from the title “King of Spring Break.” The seventh and final entry in the “Spring Break” album and concert series, Spring Break…Checkin’ Out, combines all six tracks from last year’s album, Like We Ain’t Ever, with five new great songs. To be honest, I love the old songs, but they shouldn’t be on the new album. Bryan’s final spring break album isn’t much of a party album; rather it’s more of a trip down memory lane of his past beach parties.
Bryan opens up his final spring break album with My Ol’ Bronco, a classic country subject–an aging car that still gets the job done. Games is a mid-tempo love story, You and the Beach is a very emotional song, and Spring Breakdown caps the album with a “thank you” to all of his fans. The two strongest songs are Checkin’ Out and You and the Beach, which emphasizes a breakup sticking around like a bad sunburn.
With his last “Spring Break” album, Spring Break…Checkin’ Out, Bryan makes the best of his last spring break vacation. Yes, there are only five new songs on his last spring break album, but there is not a song that I do not like. Each track is produced well and seems to be a big hit. Even though the album has repetitive sound and tempo, Bryan doesn’t disappoint.
