Singing the Blues at the All-Star Games
The NHL All-Star Game is back this week in St. Louis! 2020 marks the third time the All-Star game has been hosted in St. Louis, the other two times being in 1988 and 1970. This weekend will be full of fun times and events hosted throughout the city to celebrate the occasion.
Kicking off the All-Star events is an awesome skills competition on Friday night. The events on this night are the Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater™, Bud Light NHL Save Streak™, Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting™, Elite Women’s 3-on-3 presented by adidas™, Enterprise NHL Hardest Shot™ and Gatorade NHL Shooting Stars™. The 3-on-3 and Shooting Stars events are two new events being highlighted this year, and both include some women’s stars as well. The Skills competitions aren’t the only highlights of this fun weekend though, as many other events are happening to keep the fans entertained all weekend.
If you missed the first chance to touch the Stanley cup, no worries! Lord Stanley will be on display at the fan fair from January 23-26. At this fan fair, there will be many opportunities to play hockey, from air and bubble, real target practice and even ball hockey.
An alumni game will take place on Thursday full of former Blues/NHL legends, including Wayne Gretzky, Bernie Federko and many others. To top it all off, the final event of the weekend is the glorified All-Star game. The best players from around the NHL will be competing in the classic East vs. West game. This matchup may not have any playoff implications, but no one wants to lose, as there is a $1 million dollar prize pool for the victors.
All in all, this weekend is sure to excite hockey fans from around the world as they tune in to see the NHL’s best compete in a great, competitive weekend of events. Tune in to NBC at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
