The new St. Dominic High School sign welcoming all to our school.

If you are driving by St. Dominic on Highway 70, you can now look towards West Terra Lane and see a giant, welcoming St. Dominic sign. The sign is a part of this year’s entrance and parking expansion project. The St. Dominic community is impressed with the progress and excited for expansion to continue.

President Jim Welby has spearheaded the effort to grow St. Dominic, including this new project.

“We really needed the property for increased parking, but increasing our physical presence along Interstate 70 was a long term objective of our Strategic Plan. It allows for a greater awareness of St. Dominic High School. I also felt that if we were putting in a new entrance to our campus, it needed to look like a true campus with an upscale entrance,” Mr. Welby said.

Tons of people have complimented the bold blue letters, including current, alumni and future families. Some prospective students have even arranged shadow days after seeing the sign as they drove by.

As for when the new entrance with the sign will open, Mr. Welby can only guess.

“We are only waiting on O’Fallon to sign off on final usage. My best guess is that by the end of January, we will be open for good,” Mr. Welby said.

St. Dominic has always been a hidden gem, but now it can shine for the world to see. The new sign, entrance and parking expansion are only the start of creating a better St. Dominic, as a plan is in motion to build a new science wing in a few years, enhancing the opportunities for what our science classes can do. With all these exciting changes on the horizon, St. Dominic is excited to see the growth of our campus, population and community.
