Lady Crusaders’ First Swim Meet
The girls’ swim team had their first meet of the season this past Tuesday, December 2. Although they were missing more than half of their team, they fought extremely hard and swam their hearts out.
The Crusaders swam at Principia against Ursuline Academy and suffered a 77-95 loss. Although they didn’t get the result they wanted, the girls fought super hard and pulled through as a team in their very first meet of the season. Unfortunately, the majority of their juniors were gone on Kairos, and a lot of the other girls didn’t have enough practices to compete. Regardless, new relay teams were formed and a few races even qualified for state!
Freshman Sydney Pickett got consideration time for state in her 200 IM with a time of 2:22.45 and her 500 freestyle with a time of 5:35.95. Along with Pickett, junior Kallie Nero got consideration time for state in her 100 butterfly with a time of 1:07.46.
For teams, the 200 medley relay with Caroline Cunningham, Kallie Nero, Sydney Pickett and Ava Kannady placed first with a time of 2:13.27, and the 400 freestyle relay with Kallie Nero, Kate Ryan, Caroline Cunningham and Sydney Pickett got second place and a consideration time of 4:31.46.
Whether new or returning swimmers, all of the girls absolutely killed it!
The swim team has their next meet this coming Wednesday, December 4 at the St. Peters Rec Plex against Duchesne. The team will have most of their girls back, so be sure to come and cheer on our Lady Crusaders as they continue on to dominate their season!
