Run for Fun
Last Saturday, our community hosted the 7th annual Joe Haug Run. As well as being an enjoyable workout to share with family and friends, this is also a fantastic way of giving back to the St. Dominic community.
The Joe Haug event is put on by St. Dominic every year in order to fund the Dominican scholarship for incoming students. The event consists of a one mile fun run, as well as a 5K for all runners. This event truly helps bring friends and family together within our St. Dominic community to honor retired cross country coach Joe Haug and his 41 years of coaching and teaching at our school, as well as benefiting future students. Haug was a mentor to many former students and also to past and current faculty. He has given so much to our community, and it is fantastic to watch people give back in the annual run named after him.
This year, the race was filled with family and friends of the St. Dominic community, with a total of 43 runners in the 5K. Current senior Samuel Schilling and sophomore Ben Eusterbrock placed third and fourth in the overall race, and literature teacher Mr. Margadonna placed first in both his age group and the teachers’ section of the race.
“I love to run, and this is just a great cause,” Mr. Margadonna said.
The race this year and every year is such a great way for St. Dominic to raise money for our future Crusader scholarships. A huge thank you to everybody who came out for the race and helped benefit our school by their generosity!
