Fast Freshman Breaking Records
When people think of record-holding runners, most definitely don’t think of freshman; however, freshman Addie Biehl proves that mindset wrong.
Addie ran personal bests at many regular season meets this cross country season. She ran hard every day with the best attitude, and her hard work paid off because she ended the season medaling in seven races.
After the varsity girls won districts with Addie majorly contributing by earning fifth place, Addie and the rest of the team headed to the state championship.
“My goal was to qualify for state, so I was so excited when I did, and it was even better that the entire team qualified,” Addie said.
Racers usually bounce with worry before meets, but on race day, Addie was jumping with excitement. Her positive energy and strong attitude helped push her through the new, fast-paced cross country course in Columbia, Missouri.
When she finished the race, she became an all-state medalist and written in history, breaking the fastest girl’s St. Dominic state time ever by 13 seconds with a time of 19:40.9.
With the success she has had, we know Addie will continue to work over the summer and start her next cross country season off as strongly as she ended this one.
