Halloween 2019 is quickly approaching, and there are tons of trendy costumes for this year. From partner costumes to celebrity look-a-likes to classic costumes with a twist, you’re sure to see a range of popular costumes this Halloween.

As we get older, Halloween changes more and more. When we were little, we used to dress up as witches, superheroes, zombies, mummies or any other scary or cute thing we could think of. Being teenagers now, we have clearly outgrown most of those costumes and moved onto new ones. This year the big trends for teens are couples costumes, characters from popular T.V. shows or movies and improvised classic costumes.

Couples costumes have always been a big hit on Halloween. There’s cop and robber, Woody and Bo Peep, Fred and Wilma Flintstone and many other classic pairings. However, you don’t have to dress up with a significant other to use the couples costume idea. You and your bestie can dress up together, or you can get a group together where all of you can dress up as characters from a T.V. show. Some popular examples for this year would be characters from the movie Mean Girls or the hit T.V. show Gossip Girl. Other popular ideas for couples include dressing up as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, members of the Tune Squad from Looney Tunes or Steve and Robin from the well known T.V. show Stranger Things.

Another way teens are dressing up this year is with a classic but altered Halloween costume to make a “little kid costume” become “older and more mature.” For example, you could dress up as a mermaid and wear metallic shorts and a cool shirt instead of wearing a full-blown mermaid tail like you would as a kid. Another idea is if you dress up as a vampire, you could wear black pants and a dressy top with cool makeup instead of a cape and fake fangs.
